Sophia, Kyle Richards’ daughter, has addressed criticism for using a weight-loss drug which gave her hair fall.
While conversing with PEOPLE magazine at the Los Angeles premiere of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives season 2, on Friday, May 9, the 29-year-old Richards and Mauricio Umansky quipped that she has “always stood by being honest about everything” as she revealed why she talked about weight-loss medication Mounjaro.
For the unversed, Sophia took to TikTok on April 30 and told fans that she had been taking the FDA-approved prescription medication for people with Type 2 diabetes.
She also shared that due to the side effects of weight loss, she is now losing her hair.
Notably, Mounjaro, which is also called tirzepatide or Zepbound, not only helps people reduce appetite but it also aids in breaking down sugar and fat.
Sophia said, “If you’re honest about things, people can’t even judge you or hate on you because you said it yourself.”
“You’re the one that told everyone, you’re owning it, so anything anyone else has to say, it’s like, ‘Okay, well, I told you that. I’m owning it.’ I think it’s fine. And I always say I’m on Mounjaro. I obviously talk to a doctor,” she added.
“People who are telling me that I don’t need to be on it, they don’t know what they’re talking about. They’re not doctors. And I think everyone needs to calm down and live their own lives. And honesty will get you far in life and lying is not fun. It’s not good,” Sophia noted, referring to the backlash.
“I am 25 years old, so I’m an adult, I can do what I want. And of course we have guidance from our mom, and she wasn’t saying like, ‘Oh, you should be on this medication.’ Definitely not saying that. I think she was definitely trying to veer me away from getting on this medication, but once I spoke to doctors and she saw that that’s the path I wanted to take, she was very supportive,” she said of her mother.
